Spotify Suffers Technical Problems

According to reports on Downdetector, Spotify began suffering problems at around 9am ET on November 27, 2020.

Users commented that songs would only play for ten seconds before skipping to the next track. Others were unable to get anything playing at all.

Spotify took to Twitter to announce that “something’s not quite right”, before following up 14 minutes later to say that it had “made a few tweaks backstage, so everything should be back to normal”.

It’s unusual for Spotify to suffer widespread problems like this. Previously, in August 2020, Spotify went down when the company hadn’t renewed its TLS certificate.

An earlier incident came in June 2020, when Facebook’s developer tools caused problems for many apps, Spotify included.

When The Independent contacted Spotify for comment on this latest outage, the streaming company wouldn’t reveal what the problem was.

Nevertheless, it now seems that everything is back to normal, with Downdetector reporting no problems.
