It’s one of two races on a road course; the other goes off at Watkins Glen on Aug. 7.

Practices are scheduled for 3 p.m. ET and 6:30 p.m. ET (subtract three hours for Pacific time) on Friday. Qualifying begins at 2:15 p.m. ET Friday, with Sunday’s race starting after 3 p.m. ET.

There are two drivers entered who aren’t among the usual Cup cast.

Patrick Carpentier makes his first start since 2011. This will be his third run at Sonoma, where his best result was 11th in 2009.

Dylan Lupton makes his Cup debut. He has 10 starts in the Xfinity Series, two of them this season. He was 19th at Phoenix and 36th at Fontana, and he failed to qualify for the Las Vegas race.

The race covers 110 laps and 218.9 miles over the 1.99-mile asphalt track. It’s called the 350 because it covers 354.9 kilometers.
