During the event, a reporter with IGN was able to get a look at Final Fantasy 15 when rendered using Nvidia’s revolutionary new video card. Not only was there more more detail present in the game – millions of blades of grass weaving in the wind, the fur on a nearby cat that bit more fluffier, etc. – Square Enix director Tabata Hajime also feels that it will also draw players deeper into the game:

Tabata then continued saying that his studio looks forward to working further with Nvidia’s Gameworks division to implement better graphics technology into Square Enix games, perhaps even using the new 1080 Ti. As this is, right now at least, only found in high-end PCs, it almost automatically gives rise to the idea that there may be a PC version of Final Fantasy 15 being developed.

When asked about this possibility, Tabata reportedly smiled and replied “no comment,” saying that the footage shown using the Nvidia GPU were just “tech tests.”

Over the last few months Square Enix and Tabata have often dropped strong hints that their 2016 hit will get a PC version without ever confirming it. But this latest series of events could very well mean that the Nvidia launch was just another chapter in what may turn out to be a very long book of continual teases.

Final Fantasy 15 is currently available for the PS4 and Xbox One.
