The STALKER series has been mostly inactive for the past few years, with news about STALKER 2 only surfacing every now and then. Recently, the development of STALKER 2 by Ukrainian game developer GSC Game World was dealt a significant blow when it was forced to delay production due to the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war. However, some dedicated fans haven’t given up hope and are instead finding ways to create new STALKER-related content themselves while they wait for the official sequel.

The unofficial remaster of STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl by Andrey0007 will be released on December 25, 2022. It has been announced that the upcoming version is being developed using the OGSR Engine, which is actually an improved version of the X-Ray Engine. According to reports, the remastered version of STALKER will feature high-quality graphics, textures, effects, and shadows. Additionally, it is rumored that the game will feature new sounds, dialogues, and better NPCs as well.

The person behind the remaster is aiming to make it the definitive version of the STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl, and a must-play for fans of the original. It’s important to note that the remaster version will only come with a 16GB HD Texture Pack. That means that not all of the game’s textures will be updated - so players can expect to see some low-quality textures throughout the game.

The STALKER franchise has been in a bit of a slump lately, so many fans will probably be excited about the release of a remaster, especially since STALKER 2’s release date has been pushed back even further, now to 2023. The remaster also doesn’t have the same level of controversy as STALKER 2 when it comes to NFTs (non-fungible tokens). These were included in the sequel game but then quickly removed after causing a stir among players.

The original STALKER game was a groundbreaking first-person shooter that combined elements of horror and science fiction to create a unique and immersive gaming experience. The game’s atmospheric setting and eerie soundtrack were particularly praised by fans and critics alike. With the remastered version of the game, many fans are hoping that the developer will be able to address some of the issues that plagued the original game, while also improving upon the game’s already impressive visuals. The upcoming remaster of STALKER is hopefully going to meet, if not exceed, the expectations of the fans and players.
