Via the Los Angeles Times:
In the orginal letter to Judge Persky, Turner blamed the “party culture” of “drinking” for the events that took place on the night he sexually assaulted a woman. Persky said he took Turner “at his word” when he made his sentencing.

Turner received a sentence of six months in county jail, which was deemed severly light to nearly everyone who read the details of the case. A petition on Change.org to remove Judge Persky from the bench has received over 1.1 million signatures. The judge was re-elected in an unopposed election five days after Turner’s sentencing.
Turner was found guilty on three charges after he sexually assaulted an unconscious woman behind a dumpster in 2015.
